Last week Nancy had her 2nd puppy session with me! We managed to cover lots in this session starting with confidence building & the settle mat in the home before taking her outside working on lead walking socialisation , desensitising her to new textures and heights under her wee paws 🐾 building her confidence in outdoor environments when adding in totally new experiences in her early key puppy stage is so important, getting it right and making sure Nancy has positive experiences on her daily adventures. 🥰🐶🐾

Rain ☔️ Rain ☔️ & more Rain ☔️ Update of a dog trainer this winter. I’ve spent more time this winter rescheduling my outdoor training than any of the past 6yrs! It’s been super challenging and to be totally honest it really has been a struggle to keep positive! My Mantrailing is doing well but many teams do prefer better weather who can blame them! Trailing Knee deep in slush and mud, trying to keep your balance and avoid a trip to A&E while holding onto your longline when your dogs steaming ahead is fun 🤩 well to the addictive trailers that is! “Wanted” Dog Training Classes Volunteer What you'll be doing * To provide support to In Safe Hands Dog Training so that we can deliver the best training services to dog owners. * To aide owners with training tasks during puppy classes supporting where required on a one-to-one basis. * Setting up and packing down the equipment needed for the classes. Is this volunteer role for you? *Are passionate about dogs, dog welfare, and rewards-based training? * Have a reasonable level of fitness, stamina, and mobility – this includes lifting and carrying of class training equipment. * Have confidence around different breeds and sizes of dogs. * Have excellent face to face communication skills with the ability to listen. * Are confident and have a friendly manner * Have a conscientious with a can-do attitude. * Have the ability to follow instructions. * Be a good time keeper * Punctual and professional What this role will offer you: I will mentor you in positive reinforcement training in my puppy classes, help you gain knowledge and understanding of the dog training industry, offering guidance and support as well as an opportunity to develop your current skills and gain new ones. I will provide a uniform- Polo Shirt and Hoodie! Volunteer covered on my insurance. Class Information • Please note this is only suitable for a person over the age of 18yrs. • Currently running 2 classes per week, this might increase for the summer months. Saturday mornings 9-11am - Tuesday-Wednesday mid week evening 6.30-7.30pm. Indoor and outdoor. Perfect if you want to increase your knowledge while already working with dogs as a dog walker/sitter. Canine First Aid ⛑️ not required but wiil be booked once you are appointed in your new volunteer role.

My meet today with Bailey to observe his PAWS therapy dog training progress went extremely well, his handler has been working really hard in his school work place environment to make sure he is happy and confident in his new role. All about Chewing Chewing is a natural part of canine behaviour. Something they just love to do and getting the right chew for them is so important. Not only is it a boredom buster it is also a great way to keep their teeth clean. Natural chews is a better option. Dogs have 42 adult teeth. Their adult teeth start coming through from around 16 weeks old which is when they start losing their baby teeth. Their full set of adult teeth have all come through by around 7 months and their big back molars ( the Carnassial teeth) are fully set and secure in their developing jaw by 10 months When they are teething they are tiny sharks and teething can cause pain and behavioural changes. It’s a very important part of their development and they NEED to chew. So aim to provide your puppy with various different textures to chew on, rip up and destroy. I always recommend natural products such as dried animal parts ( avoid rawhide) Rabbit ears Beef pizzles Anco root Coffee root Yak bars Whimsies etc. The more natural the better Use stuffed Kongs, licki mats and other rubber toys to provide mental and physical enrichment or when you need to keep your puppy busy. I also love a snuffle mat. His new owner is needing help building his confidence up with meets and greets with his peers and some small humans, toilet training and recall. Confidence and patience, it’s all new to the wee fella, starting with building strong foundations and positive training in the home is where it all starts, before we add in outdoor training. Slowing things down adding new enrichment games and new training skills will certainly help settle Pablo into his new home. Great morning of trails today! Congratulations to Team Mable for completing your Intro to Mantrailing. You were amazing 🤩 Well we definitely had a few challenges today! Mainly Hi-Viz bandits lol 😂 All the dogs were working hard in this new environment, urban and rural! Scent grabbing to the buildings and hedges, lots of junctions & pathways, we mixed it up with split starts, split trails, obvious finds & decoys! you were all positively pawsome teams.

It was a tad chilly 🥶 with a little bit of grassland, pathways, fencing, ponds-water, ditches, distractions and residential/urban for our scent puzzles this morning. The different environment making it interesting trails, split starts, intensity and delayed starts, and for most teams their first time working urban areas. The teams worked so hard. 📣Mantrailing Update😉 I will be able to offer Mantrailing to XL bullies! In the process of changing insurance company. Owners- will need to fulfill all requirements. 1- Exemption Certificate and Required to show public liability insurance all documents. 2- Dog to be neutered 3- Muzzled at all times 4- Mantrailing dogs on lead at all times. Risk assessment recorded at all venues and maybe double lined in some cases.

Sardine cake for Doggies 4 small tins sardines in tomato sauce 1 and half cups oat flour 2 small eggs Method 1. Smash the sardines up, giving a bit to your dog 2. Add oat flour and eggs mix 3. Turn out th a lined baking tray, flatten 4. Cook at 190° for 15 minutes, flip it over and bake another 10 minutes 5. Cool and cut into strips using scissors 6. Can freeze or keep for a week in fridge. Photos to show stages.

Our night trail was a success for both teams, new location, different environmental situations, this was not an easy location to test out my teams. The mantrailers worked hard and covered a large area, changing up trails! Tarmac, mixed lighting, grass verges junctions, drains, roundabouts, industrial obstacles, busy human and vehicle traffic . Different starts, mixing up the finds. Weather conditions extremely cold 🥶and crisp 😌 Well done Team Wilson Team Togo You all were fantastic 👍🏻🐾😊
